I love going outside this time of year and seeing all the houses lit up. Just a few days ago I finally got outside and put the lights on our house. It was quite the adventure with my 2 boys helping (they are 3 and 4 years old) There are tons of great store bought decorations and I really love all the homemade ideas like these super cute up-cycled milk jugs http://www.savvymujer.com/easy-christmas-craft-milk-jug-snowmen/.
One thing I have started seeing alot more on social media is people posting all their elf on the shelf ideas. http://thriftymom613.com/fun-holiday-traditions-elf-magic/. I love all the wonderful traditions of Christmas. I love to see the men that dress in a Santa Claus costume to make the kids smile, I can’t help but smile myself.
This is our first year to have Christmas in our house and I loved starting to decorate. As most of you know my youngest recently had open heart surgery, his 3rd and hopefully final, so decorating was kind of last minute here. My boys all loved helping decorate the tree and hang up their stockings. These past few weeks you can guarantee if you spend the day at my house you will hear Christmas music playing and my kids dancing along with big bright smiles on their faces. They have been making their little lists of what they want for Christmas….ok their BIG BIG BIG ever changing lists 😉 Having my own kids has made Christmas so much more special. Getting to see them experience all the beautiful sights, sounds and wonderfully sweet smells has been a heart warming experience.
I don’t know who is more excited for Christmas morning to get here, them or me. I am excited to see their eyes light up when they open their gifts. One thing I wish I had a little more time for, (maybe I can still sneak it in) is for all the boys to create homemade gifts for each other and daddy. I want them to not only experience the joy of getting but more importantly the joy of giving.
