Operation Smile

Operation Smile is an international children’s medical charity that heals children’s smiles, forever changing their lives.

Operation Smile is a VERY special organization for my family.  My 4 year old Isaiah was born in 2009 with bilateral cleft lip and palate.  My husband and I have gotten to see first hand what these children and their parents go through.  It is a scary thing but we were very blessed to be able to see good doctors and provide our son with the surgery.
Did you know that every three minutes a child is born with a cleft?   One in 10 of those children will die before their first birthday. The children who survive are often unable to eat, speak, socialize or smile. In some places, they are shunned and rejected. And in too many cases, their parents can’t afford to give them the surgeries they need to live a productive life.

Every child deserves access to safe, quality surgical care. Every child deserves a future filled with hope.
That is where Operation Smile comes in!!  Operation Smile is  the largest volunteer-based medical charity providing free cleft surgeries. Since 1982, Operation Smile — through the help of dedicated medical volunteers — has provided more than 3.5 million comprehensive patient evaluations and over 200,000 free surgeries for children and young adults born with facial deformities.  Their work creates a lasting global impact. They train local doctors in developing countries and strengthen healthcare systems so more children in some of the poorest areas in the world can be treated.

Operation Smile relies on donations from others to help make all their work possible.  Did you know that CampusBookRentals.com donates  to Operation Smile with each textbook rented?  So not only would you be saving money on your college books..and every college student loves to save money, but you would be helping children towards a better life!

So if your in college, know someone in college check out campusbookrentals to help save money on your books.  You can also be a part of their RentBack program. RentBack is new initiative that allows students to rent the textbooks they own – to other students… which is awesome because it makes them 2-4x more money compared to what they’d make through buyback options! (selling their books back at the end of the semester)  HOW COOL IS THAT!!

My husband dreams of going back to school so this is a site that is saved on my computer so that when his dream comes true we can do everything possible to save money!! 🙂
