So a few weeks ago I tried on a pair of jeans that fit me not that long ago. Now they are to tight. I could hardly button them up and when they were buttoned FORGET about breathing. That is when it hit me. I NEED TO GET SERIOUS ABOUT GETTING IN SHAPE! When I look at my body and realize I was in better shape just a few weeks after the birth of my 2nd son then I am now I wonder what happened.
Yes, I’ve gotten older, I guess I could say my metabolism has slowed down. Really I just got “comfortable” and started not paying as much attention to what I was eating. I, ladies and gentlemen, have love handles and a muffin top. The thought of getting into a swim suit is not a fun one.
I decided to challenge myself to really watch what I eat and to work out at least 30 min each day. I really try to get in an hour workout most days. I don’t do anything special I just work out at my house. Sometimes that consists of turning the music up and dancing like a dork around the house with my kids. I also enjoy the “Walk Away The Pounds” dvds. To track my eating I signed up with My Fitness Pal. If your signed up with it let me know…I’d love to connect with you! We can all use additional encouragement.
I still have times I allow myself special treats like well just about anything chocolate.;-) I have just had to learn to do it in moderation. I got a bag of dark chocolate candies. It has 30 pieces in it and my goal is to make it last a few months. I have also allowed myself to enjoy a piece or two of cheese cake this past week. I don’t want to starve myself. I am just trying to learn to feed my body in the right way and not over eat.
I have noticed I tend to eat even after I’m full. I grew up being told I should clean my plate and that has kind of stuck in my head. What I’ve had to do to help my thinking in the process is to make smaller meal sizes. Instead of making 5 chicken breasts for dinner last night (My family has myself, my husband, my 12 year old step son, my 4 year old son and my 3 year old son and the younger two didn’t eat any chicken) I made 3 chicken breasts and just cut them in half. It was enough to feed us with out having a ton left over or feeling like I needed to get seconds. I am working very hard to train myself to STOP eating when I’m full and not to overindulge myself.
