When we first moved into our house we had a small oven fire. We had to have someone come out and look at it. Turns out the heating element had gone bad. The guy told us that a lot of store bought oven cleaners are bad for the element they can cause damage to it that can cause it to start on fire. After hearing that I decided I wouldn’t be using store bought oven cleaners anymore.
I have been searching for the past few months to find a good homemade oven cleaner made from product that I have around the house. Well today I found it! This oven cleaner work BETTER then any oven cleaners I have gotten from the store and I recommend it to EVERYONE!
I used:
12 Teaspoons baking soda (I wanted mine to be more like a paste if you don’t want it to be like a paste then use about 8 Teaspoons)
8 Teaspoons vinegar
6 Teaspoons Dawn dish soap
I then took a basting brush and put it all over the inside of my oven:
I let the cleaning mixture sit in my oven for a few hours (I went running errands so it was probably in there for 6 hours or so)
When I came home I used a simple scotch scrubbing sponge and cleaned it out.
It took a little bit of elbow grease but I was able to get A LOT of the gunk and grime up. My oven looks AWESOME!!
